Toxin Exposure in Infancy Affects Health for a Lifetime

Where Toxins Strike

Government agencies and industry groups say there is no evidence to support health claims related to toxic residue in air, water, food, and consumer products. I don’t buy it. Recent studies have found more than 200 toxic chemicals in the blood of newborns. Among other things, these substances can damage:
The immune system. This can result in more allergies, asthma, and infections. Additionally, weakened immunity opens the door to cancer—there has been a 25 percent increase in brain tumors among children over the past 25 years.
The reproductive system. Exposure to chemicals in plastics often used in the kitchen (such as in cooking, storage, or microwave preparation) can lead to smaller and undeveloped genitalia in male children.
The endocrine system. Most environmental physicians believe damage to this system is one reason for the current epidemic of diabetes and thyroid and adrenal disease among children.
The central nervous system. Damage in this area of the body is one explanation for the shocking rise in autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, impulsive behavior, and depression.
