Snack Your Way to Healthier Cholesterol

If I had to pick one food I’d take with me if I was guaranteed not to find another food source for hours, or maybe days, it would be nuts. Nuts are filled with healthy oils and protein, and can help to energizing you and keep you feeling full for hours.
Plus, nuts are heart-healthy wonder. Regular nut consumption can reduce total cholesterol by 5.1%, LDL cholesterol by 7.4%, and triglycerides by 10.2%, and increase HDL cholesterol by 5.6%. That’s pretty amazing from a single food that comes in a shell.
One of my favorite ways to enjoy nuts is in trail mix I created years ago. This healthy grab-and-go snack not only contains nuts, but dried blueberries and cranberries, which are filled with health-boosting antioxidants.
Hit the Trail Mix
1 cup dried blueberries
1 cup dried cranberries
1 cup whole raw almonds
1 cup carob chips
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Then divide into smaller airtight containers or bags for easy transport. Enjoy!
Now it’s your turn: Do you have a favorite way to enjoy nuts?
