Bowel changes due to food allergies can take a big bite out of your enjoyment when spending time with friends and family or when traveling. Diarrhea, bloating, and gas are the most common digestive symptoms. Depending on an individuals situation, however, reactions can include anaphylactic shock that can be deadly.
In my experience, the surest remedy for food allergies is to heal the gut wall. When the gut is damaged, proteins can pass through that would ordinarily be digested. These proteins make their way into the bloodstream, where theyre recognized as foreigners to which the body mounts an immune response. Because the proteins have been carried around in the blood, this response can show up practically anywhere.
Of course, I recommend a probiotic digestive supplement for anyone who experiences bowel problems from a food allergy. But beyond that, you need to take steps to heal the gut itself. For me, the most powerful healer is glutamine. This is the most abundant amino acid in your body, and its a major fuel for intestinal mucosal cells, As such, it has a positive effect on the barrier function of the gut wall, keeping those food proteins from entering the bloodstream. I recommend 5 grams a day as a powder.
