A Powerful Weapon that Stops the Urge to Snack

Over the years, I’ve scoured the research and investigated more weight loss formulas than I care to count. After all, obesity is reaching epidemic proportions and is at the root of numerous serious health conditions—from diabetes to cardiovascular disease to cancer. One of the biggest obstacles to weight loss is in-between meal snacking.
But now, researchers have discovered that the Asian spice saffron is a powerful weapon for controlling hunger. The reason is that saffron contains a natural serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI)—and serotonin influences satiety, appetite, mood, compulsiveness, and anxiety. So unlike fiber-filled appetite suppressants that mask hunger, saffron nips it at its source, so it even curbs emotional overeating.
The research I’ve been reviewing on concentrated saffron extracts developed for weight loss are very impressive:
* In a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled study healthy-to-slightly overweight women (ages 46-61) were either given this saffron extract or a placebo, plus dietetic advice. What they found was that feelings of hunger decreased in the saffron extract group, and increased in the placebo group.
* In another study, researchers evaluated the effects of the saffron extract on 50 mildly overweight women. What they found is that the saffron extract group snacked 51% less at the end of two months than the placebo group.
* Plus, although the data was not reported, a global health survey taken during the above study and several weeks later showed that the saffron extract group felt significantly more alert and energetic than those in the placebo group.
One way to get the benefits of saffron is by adding this spice to your cooking. Plus a new clinically-proven saffron extract called Satiereal® was developed from Mediterranean saffron. It was developed in France, and should soon be available here in the U.S.
Now it’s your turn: Have you found a way to curb snacking?
