A Kinder, Gentler Detoxification

During the holiday season, many women find it difficult to maintain their healthy eating habits when continually faced with seasonal delicacies. The added level of temptation during the holidays makes this time of year a particularly important opportunity for you to set goals and recommit yourself to healthy eating. One great way to do this is to start a detoxification program that will gradually cleanse your body of its harmful accumulated toxins and keep you looking and feeling great throughout the holiday season.

Most of my patients initially cringe at the thought of following a detoxification program. They immediately think of three-day fasts that are followed with harsh laxatives and frequent bathroom visits. Though I do advocate semi-annual, or even quarterly, intensive liver detox programs, I believe it makes more sense for most women to start with a gentler, daily program that they can maintain as part of a healthy, liver-friendly lifestyle.

Detoxification is one of your liver’s most important and vital functions. It helps cleanse and invigorate your cells and tissues and is a great way to ramp up your ability to lose weight. It also promotes radiant skin and lustrous hair. More importantly, though, the elimination of toxins from your body that takes place during detoxification protects your nervous system and brain from unmetabolized toxins; reduces your risk of heart disease, PMS, fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and breast cancer; enhances libido; combats fatigue; and supports estrogen metabolism.

In most cases, you can experience improved health practically overnight and great health in a matter of months, simply by taking targeted care of your liver. In addition to clearing out the toxins that your liver has already accumulated, my detoxification program will also clear out toxins that have been diverted to your secondary organs of detoxification, including the skin, lungs, intestinal tract, and kidneys.
