Pointless Dannon Probiotic Lawsuit Settled

Early last year I reported in my Alternatives newsletter about a class action lawsuit filed against Dannon. It seems that some consumers didnt see miraculous results from Dannons probiotic-enhanced yogurt, and felt they had been defrauded. The original claim was for $300 million. I cant imagine how anyone had suffered that much in harm. At any rate, Dannon settled last month, for $35 million. Individual customers could potentially receive up to $100 each if they can prove they bought that much of Dannons DanActive or YoPlus brands.
Don’t let this Dannon lawsuit or any of the surrounding publicity dampen your enthusiasm for probiotics. It would be a huge mistake. I believe that research over the next decade will further confirm that the probiotic benefits from foods and supplements will help address many of our most debilitating health problems. Keeping the beneficial bacteria in your digestive system at optimal levels should be one of your top priorities. The bowel changes that result from an imbalance of bacteria in the digestive tract can lead to trouble absorbing nutrients and passage of toxins into the body, to say nothing of the bloating and gas, constipation, and diarrhea that can accompany those changes.
Keep on eating that yogurt, kefir, and homemade sauerkraut, and pay no attention to those expensive lawyers.
